Blogging I've started a more formal blog at my other website, www.bubblescope.net . I intend to post computer-related things there (at the moment, there is one article, about concepts in C++0x). I'll keep (very occasionally) posting about life things here, but just in case anyone cared, I thought I would point people over there.

Updates! Wow, so long without an update!
Now living in Scotland. Working in st Andrews, Karen working in Dundee. We will live half way between in Cupar. Life generally good, got at least 4 years employment at st Andrews, so should hopefully be settled for a while.

Combination Released! My new (and first) iPhone game, 'Combination', has had it's first release on the iPhone store!
Hopefully available now, or very soon, for the low low price of £1.79, or equivalent, it's a little puzzle game that I think is great fun.
Many thanks have to go to the lovely Karen, for comments, testing and putting up with my writing it!
Please, go buy it, review it and enjoy it :)

Adventures in Japan: Part 1 of... something Seeing as in the last couple of months I've actually done a bunch of exciting things, which some people might even want to hear about, I should probably bother to write some thing about them!
For those who don't know, in the last 6 weeks or so I've got married, and been to Singapore, Australia and then Japan.
I've always wanted to go to Japan, and so when I had to go to Australia for work, I persuaded Karen to go there for our honeymoon. I was by far the coolest, but strangest, place I've ever been to. I really hope I get to go there again some time.
I'll start by listing a couple of things I had heard about Japan that turned out to be false.
* Most people, especially the young, speak good English - This turned out to be surprisingly false. The level of English understanding was much worse than anywhere I've ever been before. In more than one restaurant there was no-one who appeared to understand more than a couple of words of English. Fortunately, we were still able to get around and with sufficient hand-waving and pointing managed to get our way around.
* Cutlery is starting to take over - I've heard this rumour a few times, and it certainly didn't seem true when we were there. No restaurant offered us anything other than chopsticks, except for eating cake!
* Plushies are really popular - Most of you will know of my sizeable collection of plushies, in particular nyan nyan nyankos. While there was quite a lot for sale, to be honest there wasn't really any more for sale than I would find in the UK.
Hopefully some time tonight we will suck some pictures off Karen's camera, at which point I shall make another post!

Random Post If a post is posted and no-one reads it, does it make a sound?
Hmm.. I expected that to come out sounding better than it did.
I hope you've all been to see Wall-E by now! It's great. Not like the X-Files 2, that sucks.
Also, if you get a wedding invitation, and haven't replied yet, do so! Even if you aren't coming (although please come!)
If you didn't get one, sorry, but we had lots of people we wanted to invite. Also, I haven't met some of you IRL and don't know if you can be trusted to behave in front of my (and more imporantly) Karen's family.
Random video that entertained me this morning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9geiPp9UFI0
Does anyone have an iPhone and fancy doing some beta testing of a game I'm writing? If so, leave me a message in this post.
Time to do some work.

WALL-E Review It's really good. You should go and see it. I thought I'd seen the whole film in the trailers, but it turned out I hadn't.
I don't want to tell you anything else about it, so I won't spoil anything.

Postage Bah, that 'twitter' autoposting thing was a stupid idea.
Wedding plans continue, invitations are getting sent out, doing final organising. Hopefully about everything is done now. I'm (finally) graduating from York tomorrow for my Phd, which is nice to finally get out of the way.
Last week was in St. Andrews, lecturing at a Phd Summer School, mostly organised by Karen (although I hope I was invited to lecture due to my expertise, rather than my connections to the organisers!)
Was good fun, although like always I felt horribly ill before I started giving my talk. I think I'm getting better at lecturing, and a few people were complementary. The week was really busy, but mostly good fun. Karen was somewhat more busy as she was running the whole thing, and is very bad at delegating. However, she survived, and everyone enjoyed themselves!

Daily Update Am trying to do more posting by feeding my 'twitter' feed (Azumanga if you do such things) over here. This is an experiment, and I'd be interested to know if anyone either bothers reading it, or gets really annoyed and wants me to turn it off :)Automatically shipped by LoudTwitter
